Another way to do that is with the Text Macros (on the Tools menu). You can have up to 11 phrases--each assigned to one of the Fkeys. Or you can edit the sentences associated with tags and roles. Hi to all, I was just wondering what the benefits/advantages are of having an embedded Citation in a Memo. I’ve played with the ability and can find little/no difference in reporting [Journal or Indent with Narrative]. The citation still ends up at the end like any “normal” citation. Have I missed something? Many thanks Andrew Clark
It's a while since I had to input a lot of data into TMG but I'm now having to do that after some recent breakthroughs although I'm seriously out of practice. I seem to recall that there was a method of inputting commonly used phrases into memos, eg 'according to her death certificate her parents names were ' to save typing. I can't remember how I did it and or find the procedure in any of the help files. I've played with the control+ keys options but my new desktop doesn't seem to remember either. Anyone with any suggestions or am I just having a senior moment?
After a long hiatus from using TMG 9.05's Descendant's Box Chart feature, get the following error when I ask to "View in Visual Chartform": Error Opening Database [file]; "Error Number = -1"; "Error Message = Could not open" Suggestions for correction? Thank you.
Jim, I may have misunderstood what you want from your report, but to get a list of all citations from a selected source to events, name tags, and relationship tags, I simply create a LOC report, filtered for that one source. Then, my output columns include: Linked Record; Subject 1; Last, First Linked Record; Subject 1; ID Linked Record; Subject 2; Last, First Linked Record; Subject 2; ID Linked Record; Tag Type etc. Using "Linked Record," as opposed to "Linked Event," "Linked Name," and/or "Linked Relationship," seems to pick up everything. Jim, That's because there is an error in that filter. The brackets automatically appear when there is an OR term. the second AND should be OR. And there should be no bracket at the beginning of the third line. So the filter is: Source Number EQUALS (whatever you want to set it to) AND (Linked Relationship... How about a List of Citations report, set up as: Source Number EQUALS (whatever you want to set it to) AND Linked Name Any Name Field Is Not Empty That should pick up where the source is used for any Name field. Then for Relationships another List of Citations report like this: Source Number EQUALS (whatever you want to set it to) AND (Linked Relationship... Child; ID Number Is Greater than 1 AND (Linked Relationship... Parent; ID Number Is Greater than 1) END Take careful note of the brackets (and I hope this doesn't get scrambled in getting to the List). Sometimes you can figure out who they are by the numbers of the adjacent people.
