Is there some convenient > way of preventing the correction from being read as code? Karla, As I expect you know, [S] is the subject variable for full name. If you don't want the square brackets to be read as code you need to add the "escape" character "\" so it reads: of Alter\[s\]schwäche \[debility due to age\] You don't really need those in the second remark since that text is not a variable, but including them will keep Second Site from giving you a warning in the log about a possible misspelled variable. Terry Reigel
I noticed some odd output in Second Site and while I think I know why I got it, I'm unsure what to do about it. My death tag for an ancestor has a memo of: of Alter[s]schwäche [debility due to age] The output is: He died of AlterGeorge Schubertschwäche [debility due to age] on 29 July 1834 at Klempitz, Kreis Czarnikau, Posen, Prussia <http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~huebnerlamb/pd31.htm#i3443> . (You can see George's page at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~huebnerlamb/p363.htm#i18126 if you wish) I assume that the name is being inserted due to the bracketed spelling correction of [s] in the memo being taken as [S]. Is there some convenient way of preventing the correction from being read as code? Karla Huebner calypsospots AT gmail.com

Thanks Michael, I am glad I didn't know about changing the tags globally. It seems Ancestry makes a residence tag out of every possible fact. I changed them manually and after two days I think I have most of the tags as I want them. I don't want to note every possible thing about this family, just the birth and death dates and all of the offspring. After all of this I feel very comfortable with this tree. Yes, Nancy, if they really are both in the same group, then you can change them either one at a time within TMG or all of them at once in the TMG Utility program. However, some people have added a custom Residence tag type in the Address group, so for some people these two tag types may not be in the same group. However if it is reasonable to start over, you may wish to re-import. Depending on the import you should be able to specify that a given import tag type should become a specific TMG tag type. You did not say what type of import you did in TMG, but you may wish to check to see if this is possible with the type of import you did. To change One-at-a-time Open a Residence tag which you wish to be a Census tag type Click the "Tag type" button at the top-left Choose the Census tag type in the list and click Select Now check the roles for the Principals and Witnesses and correct anything else you may need to fix on this one tag. To globally change all at once If the imported people are still a separate dataset or project, you can use the TMG Utility to change *all* Residence tag types to the Census tag type. If you have merged the imported people into a project, but can identify the imported people by a Flag value, you can still do this global change but only to the tags assigned to those identifiable people. Unfortunately if any imported people have *both* Residence tags which should be Census tags, and *also* have Residence tags which should remain Residence tags, then this global change can't be used. You will have to do the one-at-a-time method above. (Remember to backup your project before making TMGU changes and always run in Log Only mode first to be sure of what is happening) Close the project in TMG and open it in TMGU Under "Events" choose "Change Event Type" Select the "From" type (Residence) and the "To" type (Census) Be sure that anyone assigned an existing (Residence) role will get the desired new (Census) role. If you are limiting to certain people based on a Flag, use the "Set Flag Filter" feature at the bottom. Now globally change all Residence tags to Census tags. G'day again I followed your instructions,Virginia, and after setting compatibility for the driver, went into TMG to install the PDF printer. The Amyuni box came up: Windows 64-bit x86 Installer Then after a short time: Printer setup failed. Error code 1722 The RPC server is unavailable. For interest, I then tried to run a TMG report to SCREEN, and received the same error messages as before. Of course it does finally give me the screen output but only after the two error messages and clicking on IGNORE. So there's something else happening here. On the Amyuni forum, there is an old post with instructions for 64-bit operation of their PDF driver, and it states there will be a way forward but no posts since then and I can't find any free support downloads. But is the PDF printer the problem or is it something else? Almost all reports have an 'Honor Accent color' option - look under Options -> Fonts and Colors. For Charts it's a little more complicated, but the options are there under 'Fonts'. Don F -----Original Message----- From: TMG [mailto:tmg-bounces+don=ferguson.name@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Donald Range Sent: Wednesday, January 4, 2017 11:11 AM To: The Master Genealogist Rootsweb Email List <tmg@rootsweb.com> Subject: Re: [TMG] Printing reports using accent colors I don't believe you can directly use accents to control the color of the various elements of your reports. There are some other ways to control color in reports. For each report type the report options, font and colors tab, provides control of certain report elements, such as titles or surnames. But these controls don't allow you to vary colors for individual people, which is what I think you are asking. With narrative reports such as the Journal Report you can embed font color control codes in text you enter in an event tag memo to cause some or all of the output of that tag to appear with whatever foreground and background color you specify. You can create special tag types or roles that include the embedded font color codes in the tag or role sentence template, so, for example, to make the birth sentence for certain people appear in a specific color you would switch the birth tag type or role for those people to the version with the embedded codes. If your accents are based on flags, you could use TMG-Utility to automate the change to the tag type that produces color output based on the flag value, thereby linking the color in the report to your accent scheme. If your report is going to a word processor and you would like the names of certain people to be in color another technique can be used. This involves placing a unique string (such as "****ColorMe****") in the memo field of the primary name tag of each person whose name should appear in color. TMG-Utility can be used to automate this process for all people having a certain flag value. The unique string will appear near each person's name in the word processor. Then in the word processor each instance of the unique string is located with a find command, deleted, and the name's color is changed with the word processor's font color control. Or, the entire narrative for that person could be colored instead of just the name. Automating the finding and color changing with a macro in the word processor is also possible. Thanks, Virginia Your archive search is much appreciated! I don't see any reference to CDINTF in that very comprehensive reply, but I guess somehow the PDF driver setup could be interfering with "print to screen" in some way. I'll try it out later today. Sorry Donald, I knew that didn't say what I meant when I wrote it. I meant the accents didn't print in color like I hoped. After I found the option to honor accent colors and fonts, it prints as I had hoped it would. I did not try printing a narrative report, only the compressed pedigree chart. Then in the word processor each instance of the unique string is located with a find command, deleted, and the name's color is changed with the word processor's font color control. Or, the entire narrative for that person could be colored instead of just the name. Automating the finding and color changing with a macro in the word processor is also possible. Is there a way of finding the person number having a missing external text exhibit? TMGU reports the Event number, but I can’t figure out how to locate that event in TMG in order to delete the exhibit. Chris Sackett
John, I just rechecked the TMGU log file again and the file name I originally mentioned is not recorded in the log Family Researcher research@stonehouse.ca www.stonehouse.ca/tree -----Original Message----- From: TMG [mailto:tmg-bounces+research=stonehouse.ca@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of John Cardinal Sent: Monday, November 14, 2016 9:42 AM To: 'The Master Genealogist Rootsweb Email List' <tmg@rootsweb.com> Subject: Re: [TMG] Missing file Ron wrote: > Liz, thanks ever so much for the solution. If the name on disk did not agree with the name stored in the TMG record, then TMGU should have reported that an exhibit was not found. Was that not the case? Liz, thanks ever so much for the solution. I tried that and it worked. File is no longer missing. I try to name my image files consistently, but occasionally make a typo --- when I later notice and fix the typo in the filename, it becomes "lost" to TMG unless I go back to the tag where it was attached and reload it, using the new file name/location.
