    3. Fred, Not sure I understand exactly what you mean, but if you are saying the marriage you have entered was visible when you created the tag but that the tag does not show up on the Person View screen for either party, a possible explanation is in your Preferences settings. If the marriage is not marked as Primary, and if the Preferences option for the Tag Box item to "Show non-primary events" is not checked, the marriage tag will not show in the Person View. To fix this make the marriage primary and/or change the Preferences item. On 2/6/2017 4:57 PM, W. 3. Robin You can produce a List of People report with a filter for Last Edited Date - Comes After XXX, choosing the date of your last backup. However while this produces the identities of the people whose individual details have been changed (or indeed new people added), it does not give information on which of those details were changed or new Tags added John H. ________________________________________________________ John Heckels -----Original Message----- From: TMG [mailto:tmg-bounces+jeheckels=gmail.com@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Robin Kaspar Sent: 06 February 2017 11:39 To: TMG-L Mailing List Subject: [TMG] Data entry report? 3. Robin Kaspar asked: > I know I’m probably dreaming, but I seem to recall hearing about a report > you can run that will show you all that you input/changed recently. Yes and no, Robin, One (somewhat cumbersome) mechanism that has been suggested is to produce and save a Word Processing report (e.g. Journal) which will output the *entire* dataset due to carefully setting the report options to include all people, all tags, all excluded/sensitive data, etc. Now do some editing but rerun and save this new version of the report after every editing session. If you open two of the reports in a Word Processor, most such software has a feature to only show the "differences" between the reports as part of change management. These differences will be due to your editing. Very cumbersome to search through these differences, and the reports will eat up a lot of disk space, but it might be useful. Hope this gives you some ideas, Michael

Robin, The only record that TMG keeps for your data entry is the "Last Edited Date" associated with each person. So you can run a List of People report with a filter of: Last Edited Date < Comes After {some date} END and find everyone who had some editing after that date. This will not tell you which Tag was edited, only that there was some editing of that Person. Editing in this case includes changing a Flag with the LoP or LoE reports if you allow it to do so. 1. [TMG] Marriage Sentence Help Please
    2. Patrick R. L. Dunbar
    3. I'm attempting to update my global marriage sentences and would appreciate some expert help. I use [P1] and [P2] as variables for Principals. (I forget why, but using Bride & Groom gave me problems some time in the distant past). For this test I did a Local modification of marriage sentences. Dates were before use of surnames (TMG surnames were recorded as double exclusion marks (two consecutive hyphens.)) P2 ( the bride) had no parents, so for this test I added a father as unk.; 'son of'' and 'daughter of ' was included to reveal the sex of the couple. The sentences and results were as follows. [P1] married [P2] in [D]. [P1] <was the[PAR]> <[L]><[M]> Copy sentence to other Principal? NO Which prints for P1 (husband) Waldeve married Sigarith in say 1095. Waldeve was the, son of Sir Cospatric 1st Earl of Dunbar & March & Northumberland. And for P2 (with 'unk' parent added for this test only) - [P1] married [P2] in [D]. [P2] was the [PAR] <[L]><[M]> Which prints Waldeve married Sigarith in say 1095. Sigarith was the, daughter of unk. >From this I have two queries. 1) For P1 and P2 above, how can I delete the comma following the word 'the' ? I have tried [:SP:] but this only changes the final full stop to a comma and has no effect on <the,> 2) I understand that changing the Role sentence (in Tools menu>MTTL>Tag Type Def>Roles) provides a default sentence for all marriages on file except for locally changed records. Is this correct? If so, how do I locate the files with locally changed Roles? I would be grateful for any comments or suggestions. Pat Dunbar

[P2] was the [PAR] <[L]><[M]> > From this I have two queries. > > 1) For P1 and P2 above, how can I delete the comma following > the word 'the' ? Sorry Pat, but you can't. As I mention in my book concerning the TMG sentence variable for parents: http://www.mjh-nm.net/TAGSENTS.HTML#ParentVariables "For all versions of the PAR variable to refer to both parents, the expansion not only provides the name(s) of the parent(s) but begins with “son of”, “daughter of”, or “child of” depending upon the SEX flag of the child, and includes both a leading and trailing comma surrounding the phrase." I also mention in a footnote: "Due to a remaining bug, the trailing commas from the various PAR variables will output in reports, but do not show in the Sentence Preview." These variables are intended to produce a phrase within a sentence immediately after the child's, such as: [P1] [PAR] married [P2] in [D] <[L]><[M]> which in your case would produce: Waldeve, son of Sir Cospatric 1st Earl of Dunbar & March & Northumberland, married Sigarith in say 1095. Both the commas and the "son/daughter" are built in to the PAR variables. While you could use the [MOTH] and [FATH] variables, as I note in my book in the same section: "The versions of MOTH or FATH produce only the name. While you can customize sentences using MOTH and FATH to avoid the automated relationship and commas, the PAR variables automate the handling of all the cases of only one or both parents defined. Notice that all versions of the parent variables output only the primary full names. To obtain other versions of the names Witness roles must be used, which would also have the problem of handling cases of only one or both parents defined." > 2) I understand that changing the Role sentence (in Tools > menu>MTTL>Tag Type Def>Roles) provides a default sentence for all > marriages on file except for locally changed records. Is this correct? Yes, this is correct. > If so, how do I locate the files with locally changed Roles? I assume you mean "how do I locate the event *tags* which have locally defined sentences". I think the following filtered "List of Events" report will provide what you desire. Assuming you only want the event tags in the Marriage group, I might use the following filter: Tag Type Group is // Marriage // AND Any Witness... // Sentence (local) // Is not empty // END Hope this gives you ideas, Michael

Susan, From what I read, not from personal experience, it is clear that a ChromeBook is designed to depend on an Internet connection for much of what it does. However it has a hard drive for local storage, and I see you can download web pages for viewing offline. I have no idea how difficult that would be for a large number of pages, nor whether you can do that without having your site hosted on the the Internet. Perhaps someone with some experience with one can help. Terry

The ND file is the file containing the name definitions for your project. In the case of the SAMPLE project, the first few entries are 49 - Eliza Jane 50 - Wilson 51 - Isabell 52 - Willie 53 - Bell 54 - Sam 55 - Range 56 - Barbara Thus for ever entry made in a Name field (GivenName, PreSurname, Surname, etc.), there is a line in the ND file. There is an ID number assigned to each line as shown above. A third column contains the Soundex Code for the name. How this compares with what your original file had is anyone's guess. The ND files is used with the N (Name), NPV (Name Part Value), and NPT (Name Part Type) to store the names used in the project. These work together to store each part and then out them back together for output. Each project will have files that are different from other projects. I suggest that you find your latest Backup file and Restore it as the file from the SAMPLE project will just give you garbage. Lee
