So I just saved the setup file for vs 9 and I assume that it contains the entire software set. I then saved the serial number and data along with the exhibits - all onto a USB flash stick. I had two setup TMG9setup files one from Feb 2014 and one from Dec 2014. These should be the same, right? Or were there various versions? I will try to install all this onto my Surface4 laptop and wonder if I'll be able to use the touch screen. :-) Fred On Wed, Apr 19, 2017 at 2:02 PM, Terry Reigel <terry@reigelridge.com> wrote: > On 4/19/2017 1:34 PM, Jane E. Fred: I run TMG 9.05 on my Surface4 with no problem. You can use the touchscreen, but I find it much more convenient to use the keyboard. Jane, There has no such thing as patches for TMG for many years. Every installer is now installs a complete new installation. You just need the last installer, which Clyde has told you how to obtain. Well, yes and no. There is a simpler way, but it is essentially the same way. As Paul has said -- use Book Manager. For each step in the process, create that Report Definition. Then, using Book Manager, define to Book Manager each step (each saved Report Definition): 1. Open Book Manager from the Reports Menu. 2. Click on [New...] and give it a name. 3. Add 'Reports in this book' from the column at the right (your saved Report Definitions). 4. After you have added all the reports needed, click on [Save As...]. 5. Now, click on [Create Book]. In the future, change step to to "select your saved 'Book'", skip step 3 & 4 (as they are already done), and do step 5. Be sure to create the Report Definition to "Reset the Related-By Flag" as the first to add (run) in the "book". For a bit more detail, see the slideshow of the talk I gave on the 2007 TMG Cruise -- <http://www.tmgtips.com/Using%20Book%20Manager_files/frame.htm). I've been using Terry's procedure for years...what I have done is first predefined each step in list of people and then used Book Manager to execute each step in the proper sequence. All you have to do is OK each step as it is executed. On 4/17/2017 7:05 PM, David Walker wrote: > Terry Reigel’s instructions on creating a Related-by flag is a superb exercise. I never can remember this, either, when migrating or getting a newer version. But you can go to File, Preferences, Item Tips. The select Show Item Tips On the Person View. That turns it on for all tags. I've always thought that this was a non-intuitive way to describe what we want. I know there is a 'toggle' that I tripped and now the complete memo contents are not shown when the mouse hovers over the tag. Where is that 'toggle' ? Phil Holm

PS I have a Surface4 here and may move a copy of TMG and my data over there just for safety sake. It would also be a good test of Terry's instructions. :-) On Sun, Apr 16, 2017 at 11:49 PM, W. I will take Jerry's advice and prepare backup but I'm almost 100% certain that the computer I'm using now was simply copied with all software from another machine that was giving me trouble on occasion and I had a computer company copy everything over to a new machine. I then had them take the old one to check it out and it promptly failed and they were unable to fix it. It was an All-in-One machine and the trouble was in the way raid had been set up using internal sim memory.
