    3. Kathryn, You should be extremely careful making this sort of change, and you should put more effort into determining why the flag definitions are lost before you attempt to fix things. Here's the main issue that concerns me: it doesn't make sense that the flag definitions did not transfer with the project. The flag definitions are stored in the C tables, and those tables are part of the project. If you backed up on one computer, then restored on another, the flag values should have transferred with everything else. If they didn't, how come? Personally, I wouldn't start trying to fix the database until I knew more about how it got broken. To answer your specific question, the "_C" files are the only files with flag definition data. As far as I recall, the C table links to the $ (person) table only. The flag values for each person are in the $ table, but the definition of the custom flags is stored in the C table. There may be report definitions or other external files that use C table data. Those aren't part of the project database and I have never spent the time to figure out how they work. John

The C (Custom Flag)-table is directly tied to the the $ (Person)-table. The C-table only defines the Flags. Then TMG matches each Flag to the person in $-table and stores the setting there for the person. Frankly, I am surprised the project even opened without the C-table. I would suggest that you print a List of Events filtering on the Last Date Edited being before you did the first Restore. This would help you to know what edits have been done to what persons. Then you can do the Restore again (or use the second Restore) and effectively only lose time since you would know what edits need to be re-done. Lee

Flags in the GwenJan19 file have ?,N,Y,P and the order of the flags window shows the 3 flags much further up. Gwen has 20 people where I've updated data (nothing to do with the flags, just tags. Since there are many hundreds of people with the specific flags changed in GwenJan19, it would probably take longer for me to figure out how to implement the utility to fix things (if I even interpreted it right) than it will take to just fix up the GwenJan19 file to reflect the changes of the 20 people. I can only speculate at this point. Could I have restored data only? Would that have made the C tables changes have been ignored? That's rhetorical. I made data changes to 20 people after Jan 19th. There will be no further changes to this database, as Gwen has decided to no longer do genealogy and transferred all her records and books to NEHGS. The only reason I discovered the issue is that she wanted a report of all her English Immigrants. That I was able to do by using the restored GwenJan19 database, as there were no data changes involving what she wanted. So after your warnings that what I want to do won't work, I will ultimately just print out person sheets for those 20 people changed in Gwen after that date, and update GwenJan19 and make that the primary database for any future reports. Thanks for your replies, even though they weren't what I'd hoped for. Kathryn --- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. https://www.avast.com/antivirus

    1. Re: [TMG] cloud storage
    2. Toby Turner
    3. I rely on Amazon S3 and Glacier using Cloudberry Backup as my “front end” to Amazon’s S3 and Glacier storage. The advantage to using Cloudberry (Windows only so far; I did not have luck with their new product for a Mac) is that 1) your files are encrypted before they are sent to the Cloud; and, 2) you can “see” them when you click on your storage. I can thusly delete old backups as needed. I’ve used Cloudberry to restore a TMG backup after a problem and it worked beautifully. I keep rarely used files in Glacier (slower recovery) and TMG, of course, is at S3 which means almost instant retrieval. I use Arq for uploading my Mac data to Amazon S3 (the same “bucket”). This works well EXCEPT you cannot “see” your files to delete, etc. I have not had to use this side to restore anything. I would prefer using Cloudberry, but just could not make their new version work (hopefully, in the future?). This is not free storage, but my costs run just over $5.00 a month which I find reasonable for both Windows/Mac backups. That said, uploading files will raise the cost: I recently deleted Arq’s storage (when I was trying to get Cloudberry’s Mac backup to work) and then had to re-upload it so that month’s cost was just over $11. Using Amazon’s S3 and Glacier, your fully redundant data is stored with servers around the world which gives you high uptime and durability. Amazon S3 and Glacier are a bit daunting to figure out without using a “front end” application such as Cloudberry. I don’t worry about Amazon going out of business. I have set Cloudberry for manual backups to avoid any chance of the program trying to backup TMG while it is writing to the database. The only problem I have (probably due to my legacy Windows OS) is that I have to keep updating the Windows' clock so it matches the Mac’s . . otherwise Amazon will NOT accept the backup. Regards, Toby Turner

    3. I use the List of Citations report output to an Excel file. If you have only the one FindAGrave source, then the filter is: Source Number = Equals [?] (to repeat with different source or enter your FindAGrave source number) AND Linked Event... Tag Type Label = Equals [?] (to repeat with different tag type or enter Burial) END. In the Report Options "Output Columns" tab, enter the columns in the order you choose, probably: Linked Record; Subject 1; ID - Linked Record; Subject 1; Last, First - Citation Detail. You can sort and filter easily in Excel. Susan Johnston On 5/7/2017 2:25 PM, Robin Kaspar wrote: > I would like to create a list of Findagrave memorials.
