    2. Thanks for the information. I received the printed chart today. True, it has no images, but otherwise the quality is excellent. It is 36x48 inches. It is always 96 DPI. So don't expect the highest quality - particularly for images. RobinL

    3. I have the new Office software with my Windows 10, but I've had to retain my old Student version of Word to send TMG reports. After they are in the old Word, I can then open them in the new Word docx, but without that work-around, my reports were a mess. Most people I send the reports to can read the old .doc files, but some can't read .docx. So it works for me. - Sally On Thu, Jan 24, 2019 at 1:05 PM Dennis Lee Bieber < bieber.genealogy@earthlink.net> wrote: > At 1/24/2019 11:59 AM, GRA - Brian W. 1. [TMG] Can't Print to PDF using MS Print to PDF
    2. GRA - Brian W. Hutchison
    3. Thanks for the options! Fortunately I could print to CutePDF after I downloaded that, though I could not print to Microsoft Print to PDF. With the latter I would get a Conversion Error #200 which would prevent me from printing anything, even on the screen. I have no idea why as the MS Print to PDF is one of my printer options? As for MS Word, the output was rather corrupted so exporting out to PDF from it was not an option. Best to stick with RTF when going to a useable file. Again, my most appreciative thanks to all for your comments! I never thought to use it for TMG. Thanks for the suggestion. I've been using the Microsoft-provided PDF printer as a selected printer in preferences, as recommended almost three years ago when, with Windows 10, generating the report directly to PDF stopped working. However, sending the report to 'Printer' and selecting the 'Microsoft Print to PDF' printer does work and appears to produce very similar if not identical results. 3. I have switched from an old machine that ran on Windows 7 to a new machine running with Windows 10. I can preview reports and print to my printers just fine on the new machine. Under Administrator, I can save to File to Microsoft Word, Wordperfect, RTF, and Text okay, though RTF is the best while Microsoft Word seems to get corrupted in the printing. Does anyone know why Word is getting corrupted in this way - I am using the latest version? However, I cannot print to Adobe PDF (which is my only PDF option in TMG) though there are others on my Windows Print Control options. The print and TMG just hang when I try to print to Adobe PDF. Does anyone know what the problem is here and how I can print directly to PDF while in TMG or must I print to PDF via RTF? I would like to send PDF files to people without printing the documents first and them scanning them into a PDF file. Be aware that I am not tech savy, so your comments need to be pretty basic. Thank you! Brian Hutchison

    3. Dear all We bought versions 6 and 7 many years ago, and then our genealogical activity went into hibernation. Now the family is back on the case, and I would like to buy v9 (yes, I have already used my free trial period). How do I do that? Thanks in advance Jacquie Sydney, Australia

    2. Thanks, Don. I've learned something I didn't know before. The Relationship Chart doesn't 'need' PDF format - it can be produced in whatever formats you allow under the TMG Preferences, Reports. I understand that TMG's Relationship Chart needs to have its PDF printer installed in order to format that report. So Dennis's advice to print to Word and then to convert to PDF doesn't apply to my situation. Could you tell me how to get TMG's PDF printer to be available to it under Windows 10 so I can print a Relationship Chart? I often need to do that. If not TMG's PDF printer, is there a work around? I'm new to Windows 10 and I haven't learned its tricks yet, but I'm trying. It is always 96 DPI. So don't expect the highest quality - particularly for images. Could you tell me how to get TMG's PDF printer >to be available Direct to Word did produce garbage... However, having TMG generate an RTF file which (for me) opens in Word produced a usable report (what a convoluted usage of word processor TABLE). That advice would be usable with any report that is trash when using the WORD format -- try it with RTF format. _______________________________________________ Email preferences: http://bit.ly/rootswebpref Unsubscribe https://lists.rootsweb.com/postorius/lists/tmg@rootsweb.com Privacy Statement: https://ancstry.me/2JWBOdY Terms and Conditions: https://ancstry.me/2HDBym9 Rootsweb Blog: http://rootsweb.blog RootsWeb is funded and supported by Ancestry.com and our loyal RootsWeb community
