The Drake line was the line I was researching. My DRAKEs were from NC to Greene Co., IN. They were listed in a publication of Southern marriages in Greene Co. and all 5 of the known children of Simon and Patience Gregory Drake were listed as married in Greene Co. and from NC. Included with them was Alley Drake married to Andrew Thorn in Lawrence Co. A surprise. Why was she listed in this particular group? Then I found 6 slashmarks representing Drake children in NC census and surmised she must have been the eldest and the extracter knew it. The rest seems to fit. She was listed as head of hiousehold in the 1840 Parke Co. IN census as Alley Thorn. She married in Parke Co., IN Riley Brown in 1841. And that's it. The two daughters she had with Andrew Thorn are lost to history, just 2 slash marks on the 1840 census. Shirley Maynard
