The following were in Giles Co, VA, records that I've been researching for other surnames, but may be of some use to a THORN researcher. (My Thorn(e)'s were in NJ & PA) Giles Co, VA; Marriage Bonds, 1849-1853 (FHLC 1928300) Know all men by these presents, That we "Almareen Woodward & James W. English" are held and firmly bound unto the Commonwealth of Virginia, in the sum of One hundred and Fifty Dollars, to be paid to the Commonwealth, to which payment, well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, our heirs, &c. jointly and severally, firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals, and dated this "18th" day of "November" 1850. The condition of the above obligation is such, That whereas the above bound "Almareen Woodyard" hath this day obtained from the Clerk of the County Court of "Giles" county, a license for his marriage with "Jane Thorn" daughter of "Lorain Thorn" of said county.
