We do have three new tests we are waiting for New Jersey - New York- and South Carolina. Hopefully we will find another match from these three tests. 3. George, Sorry for the first letter but after I emailed you they posted your results. Yes, we would like to have you post your family pedigree as far back as you have it. We do have another Thorn testing now that was from the William Thorne - Susannah Booth branch. I am assuming that is your line as well? It helps others to connect and when we have a match it confirms your family DNA. Good to hear from you. Thought you went on a long cruise or something. 2. I am a descendent of Wilson S. Thorn. b 1800. M Sarah Hogue. Youngstown Ohio through his oldest daughter Margaret. I believe he is of the Penn. line, but I know of no male descendants. He had sons Charles, William, John and Emlin. Charles had a son Ralph but I have no knowledge of any sons of Ralph. Any information would be appreciated. Maybe some of this will give someone a lead. Thanks, Jan McKnight

    1. Census Data Access from Home
    2. J.M. (Jay) Ingalls
    3. Remote In-home Access The following is a list of some libraries that offer in-home access to HeritageQuest Online. Most of the libraries offer FREE access. http://www.eogen.com/HeritageQuestOnline Info above from Dick Eastman. ================ Be sure you use the "Advanced" census search. You can only search for the exact spelling of a name. So be sure you try all possible spelling variations. Name spellings in census records can be totally unlike you expect. You can search for a given (first) name and location, which can be very useful for unique names. You can also search for all the people with a surname in a state or county or census district. The Heritage Quest and Ancestry.com census records are two of the very best sources for genealogy data. Be sure you add source notes or events that specify the source of your data to your genealogy program. Listing census data as events in sequential order in your genealogy program provides a great way to show the different birth years reported for the same individual over the years, and their "migration route". I am not currently monitoring all the rootsweb lists this message is addressed to, so please send any comment or question to me at my personal E-Mail address, not by using reply and sending it to the list. 1. 6 Thorn/Thorne Lines Confirmed by DNA
    2. Elmer Thorn
    3. We now have 6 different Thorn root lines tested with only 1 match. We have New York-Virginia-Maryland-Ohio-Germany-UK - and a New Jersey that is submitting this week. Does your family match any of these lines? We need more DNA testing to confirm these lines as well as finding new ones. I can't believe so many different Thorn/Thorne lines . If you are a Thorn male or know of one I encourage you to take the test so we can start building family lines . This will advance research tremendously. We can start grouping these lines so as to share research more effectively and hopefully find more of our ancestors. Go to this link to see the results so far. While there, you can order your test if you would like. I would start with the 12 marker test for $99 . This should group you with your Thorn line. Please contact me if you have any questions. I am not an employee of World Family. Just a Thorn wanting to group our lineage for better research. Go to - www.worldfamiles.net/surnames/t/thorne/results Elmer Thorn

However, if you want to refine your possibilities of matching more closely, you will need to test for 25 or 37 marker test. This helps determine approx generation where you might match. If you desire , you can start with the 12 marker to see if you match at all and then you can upgrade later. -----Original Message----- From: Elmer Thorn [mailto:eandmthorn@cox.net] Sent: Wednesday, May 31, 2006 9:54 AM To: THORN-L@rootsweb.com Subject: RE: DNA testing?
