Penny. My great grandfather was a Daniel Wade Thorn. Daniels daughter, Delilah, married a Hall. When I saw your post it gave me a shock. Wonder if we are connected? Also, I am married to a Mills. Funny isn't it. You can e-mail me directly if you want to. I am a Thorne too. My family immigrated to the US around 1881 and settled in Nanticoke, Pa. They originally came from Somerset, England then around 1879 or so they migrated to Wales to work in the mines. Is there a connection here ? Beth In a message dated 1/31/2011 1:21:17 P.M. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Mrs. John THORN which was taken at the E. B. Radabaugh Studio in Huntington, Indiana. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1870's or 1880's with Mrs. THORN appearing to be in her 20's or 30's at the time it was taken. In addition to her name, someone has written "Sister of Mrs. J. D. LINRINGER" on the back of the photograph. Her sister's last name is very hard to read, could be LISSINGER, LIVINGES, or LININGES, the writing is very difficult to read. Based on limited research I was able to locate a possible match in census records as follows: 1860 census of Dallas Township, IN: John THORN, age 21, a Day Laborer, born OH Mary THORN, age 18, born IN 1870 census of Huntington Township, IN: John F. THORN, age 31, a Farmer, born OH Elizabeth THORN, age 59, Keeping House, born PA Mary M. THORN, age 27, at Home, born OH Levi Cox, age 13, Works on Farm, born IN 1880 census of Huntington, IN: E. THORN, age 68, a Widow, born PA, parents born PA John F. THORN, age 41, son, a Farmer, born OH, parents born OH/PA Mary THORN, age 37, dau, Keeping House, born OH, parent born OH/PA Angeline THORN, age 1, grandchild, born IN, parents born OH Haver J. WEST, age 52, a Laborer, born Germany And living directly next door is the family of Hen & Sarah THORN I am hoping to locate someone from the family so that the photograph can be return to their care. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
