3. To Merlyncwilson Where do your Thornes come from? I have a John Thorne b. 1794 who lived in Jefferson Co IND. He was married to Margaret Blue in 1818. I haven't been able to find his parents or exactly where he was born. He said he was born in MD and another census says another state I think IND. But not sure. ANyway do you know anything about the Thornes in Jefferson Co IND? There is a John Thorn who left a will in 1818 and named a son John in his will but I can't prove he's his father. Thanks. 1. Re: Lots of Thorne data?
2. Wow, really? I have just one. Andrew Thorn married 5 Feb. 1832, Alley Drake, Lawrence Co., IN. Apparently he died before 1840 because A(lley) Thorn was head of household at that time. This was the information sent to be via email a few years ago. Quote: Took trip downtown today. Checked on Lawrence Co., IN 1830: There is an Anthony Thorn on page 073, line 11. The town is Newland. Males= 1 six and under, 2 @ 15 and under 20, 1 @ 50 and under 60. Females= 1 @20 under 30, and 1 @ 30 and under 40. Total of six free whites. In 1840 there is a Henry on page 230 line 2. Males= 1 @5-10, 1@ 10-15, 1 @ 30-40. Females = 2 under 5 yrs. 1 @ 30 -40. On line 3 of this page there is a Jo??? (could have been Jos.) male, age 20 - 30 and the column for blind was checked. In Parke County 1840 census page 141 line 4 I found an A???? (could be Alley) Thorn: All were female; 1 under 5 yrs., 2 @ 5 - 10, 1 @ 20 - 30. No notations. Unquote. I am not able to find my source for 1850 census, but Alley Thorn had married another man and two daughters were with her. This was in Parke Co., IN. Then I didn't find them again. Here we go. I found an old message I'd posted. Submitter: Shirley Maynard Subject: Riley BROWN Message: Just learned Riley BROWN married the widow, Alley THORN, nee DRAKE, 1841 in Parke Co., IN. Is he the same as Riley S. Brown who served in the 69th IN Civil War and deserted 1863? He is not listed on any censuses after 1850 and that is in Adams Twp., Morgan Co., IN. So many leads, but do they all lead to the same man? Riley Brown. She was on the 1850 census with Riley Brown. BROWN, RILEY State: IN Year: 1850 County: Morgan County Record Type: Federal Population Schedule Township: Adams Township Page: 164 Database: IN 1850 Federal Census Index But they weren't there in 1860 and I've not worked very hard at finding them elsewhere, since the only Riley Brown (listed) in 1860 was in Alabama. If you have anything on Alley Drake who married Andrew Thorn(e), I have her parents' and siblings' information. Shirley Maynard

3. I have Martha Johannah, the daughter of John Bowne and Hannah Feake, married 9 Nov. 1695 at Flushing, NY, Joseph Thorne, the son of John. Her sister Mary b. 6 Jan 1660/1 married a Joseph Thorne. I believe that some of their descendents lived in Plainfield, NJ. I don't know if these Josephs were the same person or two different Josephs. I am descended from from the Bownes and the Feakes. Specifically throught the above John Bowne and his second wife Hannah Bickerstaff. Their granddaughter married John Underhill whose family was descended from the Feakes. 1. Re: THORN IN WEST HAM
2. Dear June: I have an ancestor Daisy Eleanor Thorne born May 11, 1893 in West Ham. Her parents were Henry Thorne (born about 1867) and Annie Devonshire (born about 1871 in Bethnal Green). Annie and Henry were married on July 24, 1892 at Holy Trinity Church, Harrow Green E., Leytonstone, Essex. The witnesses were Joseph Thorne (cabinetmaker who was deceased at the time) and Alice Thorne. Henry and Annie lived at 22 and 24 Avenue Rd. at the time. Would they be any relation to your Joseph Henry Thorne?
