    1. Roll Call
    2. G. David Thayer
    3. My Thornes (to whom I am not actually related) are the family of William H. Thorne (1831-1916), who were very close friends of my family for many years. William had a son named Cleveland May Thorne, b Nov 1883, who evidently died sometime before 1934 (probably unmarried), as my brother is in possession of a silver baby cup engraved: Cleveland May Thorne Dec. 25, 1884 William had two other children by his second wife, Ida Cleveland (also the mother of Cleveland May Thorne), one of whom was a daughter named Emily C[leveland?] Thorne, b 6 Dec 1877 in New York (probably in Yonkers), died Sep 1968 in Hastings-on-Hudson, Westchester, NY (her home). She never married. (Day of birth and death data from SSDI). Emily Thorne was a very good friend of ours all of her life. William H. Thorne's pedigree is: Samuel C.-6; James-5; Thomas-4; Joseph-3; John-2; William-1. William Thorne was b ca 1617 in England and came to New England about 1638 (admitted freeman on 2 May 1638 in the Massachusetts Bay Colony). He died between 1657 & 1664 in Jamaica, Queens, NY, thus establishing this Thorne branch as a Long Island family very early in the game. All info (except for family of William H. Thorne) is from: http://thorn.pair.com/williamthorne1/d48.htm#P48 and following links. I have not been able to find any blood connection between my Thayer family and this Thorne family. They lived in close proximity to each other in Yonkers, NY, in the early 20th century. Evidently the bond was friendship rather than a blood relationship. G. David Thayer Salem, OR USA (shortly to be of Sarasota, FL)

A Riley BROWN served in the civil war from IN. Alley is lost. She would have been the oldest sister of my great grandfather, Thoms Drake. Both the THORN girls are lost. Shirley Maynard Hampton, VA

    3. Looking for any connections on WIlliam Thorn 1685-1810 in Prince William Co Va. In fact, probably three different Williams -like father-son-grandson. Also John Thorn 1740-1820. I have found them in the 1810 census there but have not been able to find any other info except their relationship to the O'Rear family. John and wife Mary Thorn received a deed from his father in 1771 in Prince William Co. I believe the wife Mary could be Mary Sanford b abt 1755 in Westmoreland Co. My Gg Grandfather William THorn was born between 1770-1780 in Va . We believe this John and Mary may be his parents. Need some proof. Anyone connected or any help out there? Elmer Thorn,Missouri

    3. An alternative to Ancestry.com is: http://www.gencircles.com/globaltree/search I posted all my Ingalls (all spellings) data there about a year ago. They do not allow copying the entire gedcom file I submitted at one time. This is an example of the note that is displayed when ready to download data: The owner of Ingalls, all spellings, & Descendants has been kind enough to allow you to download a small piece of their GEDCOM file. You can use this GEDCOM snippet to import data into your genealogy program. A source will be attached to this file that will automatically reference the location where you found this data on GenCircles. Extract: Only Benjamin Ingalls - This will only download the individual data for this one person. No relatives or family information will be included. Benjamin Ingalls and Immediate Family - This will download the individual and his/her parents, spouses, and children and all relevant marriage information. Jay

    1. Elizabeth THORN born abt Oct 1837 England
    2. Hi, Finally after some long searching I finally came up with a maiden name for ggggrandmother. She was Elizabeth THORN born Oct 1837 in England. I don't know when she arrived in the US or whom she came with. I do know that in every census from 1870-1910 it says she was born in England and as was her parents. In Baltimore City Maryland abt. 1869 she married James Briggs. For the rest of their lives they resided in Baltimore City. Elizabeth died Feb 14.1915 and is buried in Western Cemetery Baltimore. I have searched census records before 1870 and came up empty handed. I have cemetery information, death certificates. Elizabeth's death certificate lists parents unknown and if it wasn't for one son Charles Briggs dying April 27.1914 I would have never found her maiden name. The other children's death certificates lists mothers maiden name as unknown Anyone have an Elizabeth Thorn in their family tree born about? Thanks Lynn Smith

    1. It's just a Virus Hoax
    2. This virus alert is just one of those hoaxes going around the internet. That file has to do with the way Java Script is read, and it is used by your computer. Don't delete it. If you already have, it's not that important unless you're a professional programmer, in which case you already know not to delete it. Betty Thornton Jones

    3. I have just discovered a virus has been sent to me by e-mail which may not be detected by the normal means. Therefore I recommend that you search all your drives for a file named jdbgmgr.exe and delete it immediately without opening it. It enters your address book so you should contact all in your address book if you find it to warn them. Sorry for any inconvenience, it was not my fault honest.

    3. I was warned of this one other time and actually found that this file is needed. It has a teddy bear icon beside the file. I am not a computer whiz but I don't think you should delete this file. I had to restore it the last time someone said it was a virus. Anyone else out there that has found this alert before? I wouldn't delete it until you know more.
