In our family there is some question as to the name of my gggrandfather since he was not known by any of his grandchildren...seems my ggrandfather did not talk much about his early life and on his (William W.'s) death certificate I believe there is false information given by his wife,Lucy Matilda(Allen)Thompson, because I find nothing to support it. A few years ago someone did an genealogy on our family line, I don't know if it was a professional genealogist or not; but the info on it supports the fact that Alexander W. Thompson had 2 sons, Wm.W and Franklin. However,Wm. W.' death cert. was found which stated Frank was his father, with Elisabeth being his mother, so I am terribly confused and don't know how to go about proving the information of the genealogy...any suggestions for this amateur detective?
