I am researching a William/Richard Thompson who married a Martha (don't know last name). They are on the 1860 Bradley County,Tn. census with their 3 daughters and then in 1870 Martha and their 3 daughters are shown on the Rhea County, Tn. census. I know Richard/William served in the Civil War ( it is difficult to track down someone when you don't know for sure their first name nor the maiden name of the wife). I never find them prior to 1860 nor after 1870 except for my ggrandmother who was one of the girls. Now, can you tell me how much I might expect to pay for the use of a genealogist and where I would go to find one for that part of Tennessee? I don't like to give up and have to use someone other than myself but I am getting up in age and I can't find anyone anywhere that can or will send me info. about them.
