Thompson, who was born abt 1886, in Montana, of parents who were born in NC. Frank lived in Savannah GA in 1920 (census), shown as working at a dairy and living in a boarding house. He married Bessie Short 1921 in Phoenix, AL. She was from Marion Co., GA. They had children: Paul Matthew (born 1922 in Montgomery, AL) and Mary Katherine (born 1923 Camden Arkansas). Were they in Camden and Montgomery due to Frank's work (steamfitter etc.) or because he had family there. I know that none of Bessie family were there. Another clue I have is that Frank's parents were missionaries. I have written to Baptist archives to see if they have any information, nothing there. Frank died ca mid-late 1920's (certainly before 1930 census where my grandmother is shown as a widow) in some other state, supposedly in a mining accident or of ptomaine poisoning . My grandmother was in the hospital at the time, and Frank's family took care of getting the body and burying him. Location unknown. Have been unable to find death record. Said to have a twin brother named Carl or Carol. There is a Frank Thompson in a boys home in Miles City, Custer Co 1900 census in Montana - he is the right age, and born in Montana. I have received information on him from State Archives and I just don't think he is the right guy. His parents weren't born in NC, they weren't missionaries and there is no brother at all - only a sister. While we all know that all of these clues may not be true (parents born in NC, missionaries and a brother named Carl/Carol), I would think at least one of the three would be true. He is not the Frank W. Thompson who was living in Broadwater Co, son of William and Isabella. That Frank never married. I cannot find him for certain in the WWI draft cards, nor earlier than the 1920 census. Where is this grandfather of mine? Could he have changed his name to Thompson from something else for some reason? Strokes also run on the Thompsons from the Factor V Leiden gene. Both my uncle Paul and my Mother have it. It did not come from my grandmothers side of the family. Hoping someone out there has some information. Would really like to find some information before my 84 year old mother passes on. Thanks so much! Trish Elliott-Kashima, Lawrenceburg, TN Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
