I can't get my Thompson ancestors to the East Coast because I'm stymied in Kentucky. My maternal gg grandfather is William Reeves Thompson (9 Jun 1805-23 Aug 1877). He was born in Green County, Kentucky, and died in Bourbois Township, Gasconade County, Missouri. He was the third of four sons born to Unknown and Unknown. Moses and Israel Thompson were born in 1804; one record that I saw has Israel being born in 1807. I've found more 1804 records than 1807. William was born in 1805. Sixteen years later, Johnathan Thompson is born in 1821. When I ran Johnathan through rootsweb.com, I found a note that related that Johnathan was also Tahnattan and was believed to have been called this by his mother, a native American. I've assumed that the mother of the first three Thompson boys had passed away, but I no proof to substantiate that assumption. This further confused the pinning down who were the parents. All four Thompson men show up in Gasconade County, Bourbois Township in! 1836 because there is a record of William marrying Martha Moman (born 1821 in Virginia). The following year Johnathan marries Mary Rogers; he was sixteen and she was fifteen. Moses and Israel also married, raised families, died and were buried in Missouri. Would you have any earthly idea how to break through this brickwall? I've sourced my paternal side of my ancestry all the way back to St. Jean, Clermont, France, in 1615, but my maternal side is stuck in 1805. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
