I hade a family legend that my Thompson line was connected to the Forsyth family of Virginia. On all census from 1870 until 1880 Sarah listed her year of birth as 1841. I could never find a marriage record for Joseph S. Thompson born 1839 in baltimore to a Sarah in any of the surrounding Virginia counties. I then diceded to search out side of Virginia that's where I found a reference to Hagerstown, Maryland. I then called the Hargerstown Library and they sent me an actual copy of the 1865 newspaper with their weding announcement It listed Joseph S. Thompson of Baltimore and Sarah Forsyth of Warren County, Virginia. Searched the 1850 Warren County, Virginia Census. Sarah was listed with her parent's but she was born not in 1841 but 1832.
