Thompson, 4/6/2008 - Clem" M. Thompson, age 72, of Silver Creek-South Dayton Road Forestville, died Thursday, April 3rd, 2008 at TLC/HN-Lake Shore Hospital, Irving, following a lengthy illness. He was born in Deansboro, NY on May 11, 1935, the son of the late Everett L. and Gladys M. (Tooker) Thompson, Sr. Mr. Thompson owned &operated the former G&S Enterprises Small Engine Repair in Forestville, for 10 years. He had previously worked for the former Rowan Concrete &the former B.R. DeWitt, Inc. in Jamestown as a Mechanic and he also at one time owned &operated the former Clem's Texaco in Forestville. Mr. Thompson was a member of Forestville United Methodist Church, was a life member &exempt member of the Forestville Fire Department, where he served as Captain of the Fire Police, served as Fire Chief from 1972-1975 and had belonged for 55 years. He was also a member of the Chautauqua County Volunteer Fire Police Association. Mr. Thompson received the Fireman of the Year Award from the J. Carter Knapp American Legion Post #953, Forestville, from the Chautauqua County American Legion and from the American Legion 8th District. He was also a member of the NRA, a life mem! ber of the National Hunting Association and along with hunting he enjoyed race car driving. Survivors include 2 sons Randy Thompson and Gardner L. (Christine) Thompson both of Forestville, 4 daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Julie) Goodway and Janey Thompson both of Forestville, Mrs. Shirley (Lisa) Benton and Tracey Thompson both of Thornton, NH, 1 sister, Alice Valentine of Fredonia and 1 brother, Everett (Roxanna) Thompson, Jr. of South Carolina. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and several nieces &nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife Shirley (Pilon) Thompson, whom he married on October 11, 1958 in the Forestville Baptist Church and who died January 14, 2004 and by 3 sisters, Noreen Peckham, Monica Sutherland and Elmona Rice. There will be no visitation observed. A Memorial service will be held Monday morning at 11 o'clock from the Forestville United Methodist Church, 3 Park Street, Forestville, with Pastor Rebecca Ward officiating. A Fireman's service will also be conducted by members of the Forestville Fire Department. Interment will follow in Pioneer Cemetery, Forestville. The family suggests memorials may be made either to the Forestville Fire Dept. Emergency &Rescue Squad, Chestnut Street, Forestville, NY 14062 or to the South Dayton Fire Dept. Emergency &Rescue Squad, PO Box 88, South Dayton, NY 14138 or to the Forestville United Methodist Church, 3 Park Street, Forestville, NY 14062.
