My Thompson line is pretty well established [I'll post some of it below]. My reason for being interested in this board is not only my own Thompson line, but I am a local historian in South Jersey, and working on a local Thompson line here. From what I can see many of the Thompson descendants in South Jersey hail from a different line than mine -- from a Thomas Thompson originally from Yorkshire, England, who emigrated in 1658 to Ireland. In 1677 his two sons, John and Andrew emigrated to the colonies, and originally settled in Elsinborough NJ [near Salem, Salem Co. NJ]. One of his descendants did settle in Monmouth NJ, and could possibly be connected to you. Which line? only your research will say.
