    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: tunnelm1 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.thompson/8020.2.1.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: My records show that Hugh Thompson (lost his mind and died about 1757) married Eleanor Unknown, and they had Eleanor (nothing known about any possible husband), James (who married Jane Unknown), Mary (nothing known about any possible husband), Jane (married Andrew Leeper) and a daughter who married Bryce Russell. I show that a James Leeper and his wife Margaret (POSSIBLY Margaret Thompson) had several children, including sons named Nicholas Leeper (who married Mary Unknown) and the above Andrew Leeper (who married Jane Thompson, daughter of Hugh and Eleanor Thompson). Nicholas and Mary (Unknown) Leeper had a son named John Leeper (who married Elizabeth Davidson). Andrew Leeper and his wife Jane (also shown as Jean) Thompson had a son named Hugh Leeper (who married Martha Davidson). Surprisingly, these two Davidson women were apparently from two different/unrelated Davidson families (see Family 1 and Family 3 on the Davidson/Davison/Davisson DNA testing project website: www.davidsongenes.org). I show that that Hugh Thompson was a brother of William Thompson (who married a Jane Unknown). William Thompson provided land for Thinkling Springs Church in Augusta/Rockbridge Co., VA. This William and Hugh Thompson may or may not have been related to the Matthew Thompson who left a will in Augusta Co., VA in 1753, and this William and Hugh Thompson may or may not have been related to the Reverend John Thom(p)son who came to Amelia/Prince Edward Co., VA from PA and who preached at the above church on occasion. Note: The families of Matthew Thompson and William Thompson have to be carefully researched in order that they not be "intermixed" in research. They each had several children. Unfortunately, it appears that the Thompson DNA testing project has living male Thompson DNA donors from the above Matthew Thompson family, but not from the families of the above William/Hugh Thompson and Reverend John Thom(p)son. It sure would be nice to compare DNA from all three of these families. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
