Were they from N. Ireland? Were they Protestant or Catholic? My Thompsons came as indentured servants from N. Ireland. There were either 5 or seven brothers who traveled this way. This was about 1735. When the ship got into Baltimore harbor, the boys all jumped overboard and swam to shore to escape serving out their indentures. Now the interesting part is that my own line traveled from Baltimore to the Gettysburg, PA area and then after the civil war headed for Champaign County, OH which is next to Logan County.
