Author: TomMitchell110 Surnames: Thompson Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.thompson/16944.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have a John Thompson who was born c1760 and I am certain was from the Harrison Co area along the Tygart Valley River in what was known as the Thompson Settlement and is now in Barbour Co. I have no other information on his family. He joined the Va Regulars in 1777 and was in the war until 1782. I have no idea what he did after that until he shows up with his family in Mercer Co Ky in 1819.
