The John Anderson, The Testator, line is related or very close friends with a Dowse family, James family, and a Harriott family. These families appear to have Virginia origins. The Harriott family uses variant spellings of the name: Herod, Harrod, Herrod, etc. and my suspicion is that the Joseph Herod that I find in Rutherford County, TN and the Calvin Herod that I find in Cannon Co., TN are descendants of this Baltimore County, MD Harriott family (See Robert Barnes, BALTIMORE COUNTY FAMILIES, (Baltimore: Clearfield Company, Inc., 2002 reprint), pp. 8, 304 and 459). I would suspect that with the given name of Herod that your Holt family is connected to the Herod/Harrod/Harriott family as well.
