Gaines Thompson was my 3rd Great Grandfather and according to all my research in the past 15 years plus is the brother of the General. General Wyley Thompson was not known to have any children with his wife, but it is said he had one child with the Indian Princess down in Florida. If you have information of children with the wife please correspond. We would both be direct descendants of the Robert Thompson line out of Chesterfield Co., Va. Wyley and Gaines were sons of Isham Thompson and a first wife named Sarah, Isham also was married to one Elizabeth Williams. Isham's father was John Farley Thompson and his father was Robert.
