If anyone spots a George Washington Thompson, or George, or Washington, or G.W. Thompson who would have been born, maybe in Kentucky, 1827-1833, please let me know. I know there are many of them, but this is my brick wall. My G.W. Thompson married Lucy Wilson, whose family was in Owen/Scott/Franklin/Woodford Co., KY area in the 1850-1890 timeframe. George and Lucy Thompson appear in the Pike Co., Illinois census in 1860 with 2 children, the younger of whom was born in Illinois. They then appear as "Washington" and Lucy Thompson in the 1870 Census of Daviess Co., KY, with 6 children (saying all born in Kentucky). Lucy appears in a Scott Co., KY newspaper article in the 1880's that said she was visiting relatives but was from "Missouri." Lucy died of consumption not long after that and then all their children died (probably of consumption) except the two oldest - J.J. Thompson of Scott Co., and Sarah Thompson Finnie (wife of Mark Finnie) of Midway, Woodford Co., KY. I have not found any record of a marriage of George and Lucy or any family for George or any record of him before 1860. The census ages vary widely (not unusual) and the older children were not sure if they were born in Kentucky or Illinois. Based on childrens' ages, George and Lucy should have married about 1855. There was some speculation that George was from Daviess Co., KY, but the Thompson researchers there can't connect him. If it helps, Lucy was (I think) the daughter of George W. and Adell/Delia (unk) Wilson of Owen Co., KY. Any help or thoughts about how to uncover George would be welcome. Thanks, Doug
