Author: LF6818 Surnames: THOMPSON, IGOU, BROTHERTON Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.thompson/19721/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Both of these men were born near the same time, both likely in PA, but think records are getting confused and information used with the wrong one. Both had a daughter named Rebecca born about the same time and place, but did not die in the same place and time. The northern Rebecca was md to unknown Brotherton and the southern Rebecca was md to James Igou. The first Rebecca and spouse remained in Pennsylvania whereas the 2nd couple moved to Sullivan Co., TN by 1816 & moved within the state a time or two and died in James (now Hamilton) Co., TN in young adulthood leaving about 4 or 5 minor children who were raised by their uncle General Samuel Igou of Igou's Ferry fame and his wife. If anybody can add more to clarify these two families, please reply. The southern family also had a Samuel Thompson, father of Rebecca, who sold land to his son-in-law James Igou in ?Sullivan or Bedford Co., TN.
