Prior to mid 1921 in RI, BMD were recorded in ledger style books, first at the municipal level & then, at the end of the year, a copy, also ledger style was created & turned in to the state as the state's official copy. I've just gotten a copy of a set of pages from one such ledger style book for the City of Providence for births occuring in the year ending Dec. 31st, 1892. The ledger book pages are numbered 132 - 133 & the volume # is 15. The columns are headed, "Registered at; Date of Birth - for all the year is 1892; Full Name of Child; Sex; Color; No. of the Child; Place of Birth; Ward; Names of Parents; Ages of Parents; Occupation of Father; Birth Place of Father; Birth Place of Mother" For this entry, the house addy is overwritten & not clear - Broadway/26 Jul/Madeline Helen Thompson/F/W/2/Rockland, ME/IX/William W. & Alma M.(Conary)/26-24/Book Publisher/Friendship, ME/Rockland, ME Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
