Hayles of Wilcox, Alabama. Robert married a Sallie Bell. Sallie had at least two brothers, Tommie and Billie. Tommie worked in the saw mills for a while. Billie had two children, Annie, who married Tom Graydon and Ollie who married Lois Graydon. Robert's mother was Mary (Young) Thompson. She had three sisters, Lizzie (Young) who married a John Harvey, Fannie (Young) who married a Watson and Nancy (Young) who married a Harmon G. Hayles. Mary and her sisters were most likely from Wilcox/Butler/Monroe or counties nearby. Robert Thompson attended a place called "The Barnes Institute" where he ran away. He later also served some jail time before settling down with Sallie Bell. I have a story from my great-grandfather, John F. Hayles, who talks about these things. I know John spent some time with Bob and Sallie for awhile. Robert and Sallie lived in Monroeville for awhile, probably sometime after 1885. I am trying to find out if there is any family history which may have identified anything about my great-grandmother, Mnnie Warren Webb who was married to John F. Hayles. If you know anything about any of these people, I would appreciate your help Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
