I am descendant from him by his daughter, Mary Elizabeth Thompson (1890-1975) who married James Marcus Roach (1881-1958). Later on, Mary married Grover Cleveland Farris (1890-1961), but they had no children. My great aunt Cona Jean told me that her grandmother's father is George Bert Thompson, but that she wasn't sure on the name of his wife. In my searches, I have found that George married Edna Miller (b. 1847) on 17 Nov 1897. I know this is correct because the license lists George as being in Warm Springs, Arkansas and that is where all of his children are born. Also the 1900 census lists the following: George B Thompson Edney Thompson (I assume this is Edna) Mary Thompson Sarah Thompson Ellen Thompson I know that the Mary Elizabeth I'm related to has sisters Sarah Francis and Clara. The 1910 census lists George, Edna, and "Cara" (who I am assuming is Clara). By all accounts, Edna Miller seems to be the mother of at least some of the girls... though I'm not sure. Mary Elizabeth Thompson was born in 1890, which is 7 years prior to George marrying Edna. I did some more research and found another record of "Bert Thompson" marrying a "Celia A Farris" in 1888, Warm Springs, Arkansas. I don't know if this woman was the mother of Mary or not, but it makes sense. I know that George is buried in Warm Springs at the Macedonia Cemetery, and that there are two other Thompsons there as well: James Madison and Martha. The Martha buried here was born in 1844 and is listed as the wife of "J A Thompson". I took a wild guess that Martha could be George's mother, since she would have been the right age in 1864 to have a son. I typed her in and J A Thompson as the father, and I got a census record from 1880 which listed "John A Thompson" and "Martha Thompson" living in Panther Creek, Kentucky. I clicked this, and one of the children is named Bert, born about 1864. I know that Bert was born in Kentucky, but I don't know where. Can anyone confirm this? I would like to know this information, and I would like to know the ancestry of George Bert Thompson as well. Does anyone know anything more on Bert or his wives?
