I'm new to this group. I am researching the family of Alexander H. "Ira" Thompson (written on back of photo) (born 1830 Drummond, Lanark, Ontario, died 6 June 1893 Lorimore, Union Co., IA) who married Mary Ann Harper (born 1842 Belmont, Peterborough, Ontario, died 10 Nov 1896 Lorimore, Union Co., IA) in 1858 in Belmont, Peterborough, Ontario. Their first child, my great grandmother Jeanette/Genetta was born 1860/61 and the family then moved near Ottumwa, IA along with Mary Ann's father, George Harper. Her mother's name was Elizabeth. Her sister Nancy married a Kendall and may already have been living near Ottumwa. Not sure whether George was already there with Nancy or came with Mary Ann. I'm looking for the parents and siblings of Alexander Thompson. His parents were born in Scotland and named Alexander and Janet according to the marriage certificate. Children of Alexander and Mary Ann include Jeanette (who married Reuben Reeves near Ottumwa), George (born 16 Jun 1862 Richland Township, Wapello Co, IA died 7 May 1912 Sydney, Fremont Co., IA), David (born ca 1864 Richland Township died 24 July 1939 Ascot Vale, Victoria Australia -immigrated to Australia), Sarah E "Sadie"(b. 9 May 1875 Richland Twp, died 10 Dec 1963 Quincy, CA who went to Reno, NV and married Albert Olds), Alice (b. Mar 1866 Richland Twp who married first Albert Cooper and then William Z. Oldham in Ottumwa), Sam (b ca 1869 Richland Twp), Charles H. (b ca 1871 Richland Twp), Minnie J. (b. 1 Nov 1873 Richland Twp m. Elmer Elsworth Burt and died 11 Nov 1936 Stanislaus County CA), James Malcolm (b. Feb 1880 Richland Twp.) Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Patte Wood
