I am really sorry, Russell I don't know where the Thompsons of "mine" came from.I think from No.Ireland as there was a large exodus from there to the No.American colonies in the 1700's and also because my Thompsons settled in or near the Cumberland area in what is now Appalachia.I cannot find anything further back, however , than my gggrandparents Benj.and Mary Thompson married in Maryland in 1828 and born in 1807 in Virginia and 1806 in Mrayland respectively. There is an interesing web site called Clan Thompson if you care to look sometime.I do believe that Thompson is still a common name in No.Ireland.
