I think "my"Thompsons were orig.from Scotland and planted in No.Ireland by the English king.My idea was that they were among the thousands of Scots-Irish coming to the Colonies first to Pa.then to the Cumberland Valley of Va.There were famines and high rents plus religious persecution by the English who wanted all-Catholics and Presbyterians alike-to be Church of England,so they left.Good for them!
