    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: Dot43Jan44 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.thompson/18474.1.1.2.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Anything is possible. I found a Rutha Thompson, who some public trees suggested might be his mother. She married a Job Wilkins in 1818. On the 1820 census, it was indicated that Rutha was at least a year older than Job who was less than 25. They already had several slaves, a son less than 5 and that two worked in manufacturing. I have been unable to connect with Job on other censuses unless they moved to another state. My thought was that Rutha might have been an older sister. How many five year old know their mother's real name. If the mother was already dead, his sister might have been helping raise him. Back then, even a 9 or 10 year helped with the younger children in any family. I wish I could find any record of a Thompson by any spelling who died in Clarke County in 1807. Hope you have someone in your family tree who fits. Thanks for your reply. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
