    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: RussellThompson545 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.thompson/7774.13.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi Lynne The blue eyes and dark hair, short men, none over 5'6'' were constant up to my Dad b. 1926. The only reference I have to my Dad's G'Grandfather comes via the East Maitland Gaol where he was a regular inmate. He also had the blue eyes. My Dads DNA test revealed an Afro-American cousin so over two hundred years things can change a bit. Presently I am looking at some D Certificates that place forebears in Derry, Coleraine and some inlaws from Antrim. Largely Scotts/Irish settlers. Probably Plantationers. Yet my line sailed from Greenoch, Scotland and lived at Milford Donegal up to the year they sailed. Nothing constant in male employment. The gals all maids though. Low socioeconomic beginnings but then all Oz migrants struggled. No wealth or advanced education untill the twentieth century I am providing all my BDM transcripts to 'Clan Thompson'. If they can include them in their site, and others do similar that may just provide some leeds and timeframes. When these people were starving their emigration destination was largely called by which ship they could get free or assisted passage on. Oz was not settled untill after 1788 so the Americas stole the march. Interesting stuff. 3. How do you get to Clan Thompson--I am a Thompson woman with no one to do Thompson DNA. I keep watching and looking for anyone who might be a Thompson with my father and grandfather. Father's name Frank Fuller Thompson (Minneapolis MN, b. 15 Oct. 1879--d. Salem OR, 08 Jan. 1961) m. Amanda Ervin, 22 Feb 1902 near Spokane WA. He had 2 children with Amanda, Duane, d. 22 Dec. 1932, Rapid City SD and Dona, d. OR, He had a sister, Daisy m. Phelps. Frank's father Samuel S. Thompson--some have said the 'S' might be Sylvester. S.S.'s b. in Minneapolis and d. in Minneapolis but I don't have the dates right here. He married Jennie Walker, divorced, married again, d. in train accident. Hoping someone will recognize these two!
