I cannot find any further information on Thomas Houston Thompson, except I know there was a Dr. Thomas Huston Thompson, but the his immediate family did not match mine. I am going to continue to research this, but if there is anybody who knows anything that may help me, it would be greatly appreciated. He apparently lived in Pennsylvania until about 1849, because he was in the 1850 Adams Co, Ohio census, although all his children had previously been born in Pennsylvania, except his two youngest. Thanks to anybody who may have information regarding my ancestor! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Also have you sent for your Dad's SS Application? That should have his parents names on it. Do this by snail mail and include his death notice or obit to prove to the SS that he is dead. Author: JDT53 Surnames: Thompson Hazard Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.thompson/19288.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have the father of Robert, b1787, as Ephraim Thompson who was born 23 Jun 1761 in NC and died in Davidson County TN in 1834. His will was written 30 Apr 1834 and recorded 23 Dec 1834. It can be found here: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/DGS-004769073_00213?cc=1909088&wc=10929982 Ephraim was the son of Robert Thompson and Letitia Hazard. There is a family bible that lists their eight children and their birth dates. In Ephraim's will he has a son named Robert. Your Robert, b.1787, named his first son Ephraim. I have based the connection on that uncommon first name, the middle name Hazard being passed down, and the ages, locations, etc. being in sync but I believe you would need more documentation to consider this 100 percent proven. A yDNA test matching the descendant of Ephraim's brother Robert would also support the connection. There is a lot of information on Robert and Letitia and children in this thread: http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/NCGUILFO/2009-02/1234312314 The source for Letitia's name is a 1763 deed that gives her name as Latice. A daughter and other descendants are named Letitia. I believe her last name is inferred from her descendants having Hazard as a middle name. All the deeds for Guilford County are online and a copy can be found here: http://rdlxweb.co.guilford.nc.us/guilfordNameSearch.php It is in book 1, page 15. I have researched this family because I have a non-paternal line of Thompsons that was in Davidson County TN in the early 1800s and three generations of McNary Thompsons but I have been unable to find a connection. -David Thompson Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I hope you have some excellent Y chromosome DNA matches to some other Mr. Thompsons, whether or not those matches are the descendants of Hazard Thompson (born about 1814) and his relative Abraham Thompson (born about 1776) or the descendant of Reverend John Thom(p)son. By the way, I see where the father of Judge John McNairy was a Francis McNairy, and when Francis wrote his Will (in NC, as I recall), a John Thompson was a witness. Judge John McNairy was apparently the father of the Catherine McNairy who married Jason Thompson (the father of the first/older Jason Hazard Thompson). Perhaps the John Thompson who was a witness on the Will of Francis McNairy was related in some way to those other Thompsons. In my opinion, it would be quite a coincidence if your later/younger Jason Hazard Thompson was not related to the earlier/older Jason Hazard Thompson....but as I like to say, "genealogy is always trying to fool us."
