I'm looking for William Thompson born ca 1796 in KY. He married Susannah Gough Fall, widow of Jesse Fall in Putnam Co., IN in 1830. Their children were: 1. Enoch Thompson who married Margaret Gashe. 2. William Franklin Thompson who married Victoria Stephenson. 3. Henry H. Thompson who first married Mary J. McKinzie and 2nd. Helen Fertig. 4. Mary Ann Thompson. 5. Martha Thompson who married William T. Haskett. The family lived in Butler, Preble and Clermont counties, Ohio and settled in Hamilton Co., IN. Other connected names are Wright, Peck, Hensley, George, Dearmond, Lyles, Patterson, Kern. I think William may have been born in a Virginia State county that became a Kentucky county. Does anyone have any clues as to what family he may have come from? Thanks, Kathleen Rogalla deserthawk@cableone.net

I've "rescued" an old photograph of Wilfred Arthur THOMPSON which was taken at a studio in Idaho Springs, Colorado. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1890's with Wilfred appearing to be in his early teens at the time it was taken. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following census information with a possible match: 1900 census of Idaho Springs, CO: William J. THOMPSON, age 46, born Apr 1854, married 24 years, born England, parents born England, to USA 1887, a Painter Ellen E. THOMPSON, wife, age 51, born May 1849, married 24 years, 9 children/7 living, born England, parents born England, to USA 1887 Leonard THOMPSON, son, age 21, born Aug 1878, born England, a Barber Maud THOMPSON, dau, age 19, born Jun 1880, born England Arthur THOMPSON, son, age 18, born Dec 1881, born England, a Painter Wilfred G. THOMPSON, son, age 13, born Nov 1886, born England, at School Dick C. THOMPSON, son, age 9, born Jan 1890, born CO Bertram THOMPSON, son, age 7, born Jun 1892, born CO 1920 census of Silver City, NM: Wilfred THOMPSON, age 33, born England, parents born England, an Engineer Minnie THOMPSON, wife, age 26, born NM, parents born MO/Mexico John E. THOMPSON, son, age 7, born NM Gladys THOMPSON, dau, age 4 years + 4 months, born NM Chester THOMPSON, son, age 1 year + 1 month, born NM I am hoping to locate someone from Wilfred's family so that this wonderful old photograph can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

Try going back from you. Your parents, grandparents for starters. Where are you looking? Towns, counties, states?? Everyone has to start somewhere and there are lots of folks ready to help. You never know, you'll possibly find relatives? Example- my mother Linda Ketchum, b. MI, her mother Margaret Thompson, b.MI, her father Frederick Smith Thompson, b. Nicholsville, Cass Co. MI on 2 April 1869, his father Smith Thompson, b. Orleans Co. NY on 15 Aug. 1838, his father Robert Thompson b. either VT or Ireland, 1800. (b. means born). Can you start with yourself and provide brief information, then your parent from the THOMPSON line? Grandparent if you know it? Happy hunting. Likwise, we are ardently working towards building related branches of Thompson families with history from New Castle, Chester County, PA, various counties in Virginia, through North Carolina, into South Carolina and then into Georgia. The marriages between these THOMPSON's in the early counties formed from Wilkes County are of interest to us as many of their parents resided last in South Carolina before their migration after the land available through the lotteries... This James A. THOMPSON interests us for several reasons--the time frame, the geographical area, and we would like to learn more about him.... The pictures are postcards and look like they were taken in the 1900-10 era. One is from Eva Lyons to Mrs. G.O. Thompson; one is from Della Langer to her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Thompson; the third is nearly impossible to read but it was sent through the mail and dated 1908 to Minnie B. Thompson.
