I'm looking for any information on: John Henry Thompson Born January 15 1808 in Erie Pennsylvania The only parent name I have listed is Mr. Thompson John Married a Margret Hall From Scotland at some point, but I don't know when or where. I just know that it was before 1849 when their son Charles was born in Bryan, Ohio. If anyone is in that area and can do a look up or has any info I would be greatly appreciative. I am not sure of her death date either. I have no names for brothers and sisters yet for either Orville or Alice. I am going purely off of census information and the bit of information my grandmother can provide me. She doesn't know much about anyone beyond her grandfather and grandmother, Walter L. Thompson and Ida E. Swanger. I've actually mentioned names from the censuses and she has remembered hearing them, but not much more. Orville and Alice had four children: Arthur M. (1887-), Walter L.(1889-), Della M. (1892-), and Rose D. (1894-). The only grandchildren I know for them are from Walter L. and Ida E. Swanger : Sarah E. (1914-), Doris H. (1916-), Nellie M. In 1764, he married ELIZABETH (1749-1850). DAVID THOMPSON, AMBROSE POWELL, and SIMON POWELL served in the military together, were awarded adjacent land in Culpeper County for their service, and became neighbors. DAVID and ELIZABETH had ten children born between 1764 and 1790. With the exception of one son, the lives of the other nine can be traced. Their son, GEORGE, was born cir. 1770 where he grew up in his parent's home, in Culpeper Co. After the 1790's, all Virginia records of GEORGE were lost and there has been no information found of his adult life. DAVID was a farmer and hunter; this he taught to his sons. Second Account: According to Kentucky records, GEORGE P. THOMPSON, with his wife, PRANCIS POWELL THOMPSON, walked from Culpeper County, VA, through the Cumberland Gap, to Jessamine County (near Lexington and Georgetown), and, eventually, to Estill County, Kentucky; arriving there in the late 1790's. GEORGE became a bear hunter in the same area where DANIEL BOONE hunted a decade before. After many successful trips into the Kentucky mountain wilderness, GEORGE failed to return from a bear hunt, probably the result of a fatal encounter with a bear or a band of Indians. In 1843, after GEORGE's assumed death, FRANCIS and her son, BENJAMIN, moved from Kentucky to Platt County, MO. The question to be proved: That GEORGE THOMPSON, the son of DAVID and ELIZABETH, was the same GEORGE THOMPSON who became a bear hunter in Kentucky?
