I have so little information to provide. According to my father's (Samuel Joseph Thompson) birth certificate, his father's name was Sam Thompson, he was born in N. Foundland and his occupation is shown as "Soldier". His father's name is William. My father's mother is shown as Leda Turgeon. My father was born in Biddeford Maine on October 5, 1916. I have no one to ask as my grandmother (Leda/Lena/Lora) is deceased. My father died in 1958 and my mother has Alzheimers and either doesn't remember or gives me off the wall information. This is not my family line that I am aware of. I was curious about the name because Hugh's son, Samuel W. Thompson & wife Phebe (Richardson) Thompson are buried in the same cemetery where my line is. There are 17 Thompson tombstones located in the Grapevine Cemetery, Tarrant County, TX and nearly all of them are my known relatives, so I did a search to see where this Samuel came from. 1880 Gordon County, GA Hugh L. Hello everyone! Am new to both lists... I'm looking for James & Margaret (RILEY) THOMPSON in the 1851 census in Burnley. In the 1841 census, they were Lane Head in Burnley; James was age 55, and Margaret was age 46. Margaret may have been a widow by 1851, but I'm not certain because I've not been able to locate a death record for James. Their children in 1841 were as follows: Edward - age 21 John - age 18 Simeon - age 16 Elijah - age 12 (my line!)
