    3. Jessica . Interested in your comment "the Thompsons came from Norway" . Have you had a DNA test . I am a R1a . I have always thought the Thompson "P" was taken from the old English double S written like fs and originated in Yorkshire with the coming of the Norse raiders . Were you thompson on arrival or did you anglosize a Norwegan name . Author: dwmc2 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.thompson/17293.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am continuing to peck at my brick wall named George W. Thompson, born somewhere in Kentucky around 1829 and married Lucy Wilson, possibly in Owen Co, KY, around 1850. I have not located George in 1850 and I know nothing about his parents. In a later census, he is shown as "Wash" Thompson, so his middle name *might* have been Washington, but... George & Lucy appear in Pike Co, IL and in Daviess Co., KY and then Lucy is back in Owen/Scott Co.,KY before her death there of consumption. No idea what happened to George. Since your post contains several of my key words - Thompson, George, and Wilson - I thought I'd ask. Thanks, Doug Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
