My great grandmother is Margeurite Percey, who was born in Ontario Canada. From what I've been able to get her mother Ellen Thompson was born in 1850 in Ontario Canada and her father was Andrew Percey who was born in Ireland in 1845 and immigrated to Canada. The information I was able to get was that Ellen's parents were Robert Thompson and Margaret Ferguson. What you said about immigrating to North Dakota made me curious if we're talking about the same Robert and Margaret (Ferguson) Thompson. Author: pkashima1 Surnames: Thompson, WIlliamson, DeMasters Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.thompson/17302.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: While this is not my family, I did find a few bits and pieces for you. Since Dolly Thompson was born ca 1867 and John B. Williamson was born ca 1861 I theorized that William Williamson died sometime between 1861-1867 - and Elizabeth had to ahve married a THompson during that time as well. I checked the marriages in Johnson Co MO and found Joseph THompson married Mrs. Elizabeth WIlliamson, 8 Nov 1863. So, now you know that William Wiliamson probably died between 1861 and 1863 - and I suspect he may have died in the Civil War. I checked the 1870 census as you did, and I agree - they just are not there. I did look in the 1860 Johnson Co census - and there is a Joseph Thompson, 35, farmer, $800, $250, born in TN. Wife Catherine, 32, MO, kids: Elizabeth 11, MO; Mattison, 5, MO; Frances, 4, MO; Eliza, 2, MO; Thomas, 7/12, MO. I also found a marriage for Joseph Thompson who married Catherine DeMasters, 19 Mar 1854 in Johnson Co. I think it quite possible this is your Joseph Thompson that you have been looking for. He must have died sometime between approx 1875 and 1880. You probably already know this, but I would suggest that you check the land records for Joseph THompson. This may show wives names through the dower records and may help clinch the identity of being this particular Joseph Thompson. It may also tell where in TN he came on his first deed. May not, but it will at least help you determine the date that he was in Johnson Co., MO. May also help pin down his death date as his wife may sell the property. Maybe probate too since he had minor children - for both husbands. Hope this is of help to you, Trish Elliott-Kashima, Lawrenceburg, TN Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: MarilynHamill Surnames: Thompson, Smith, Williamson Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.thompson/17302/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Looking for this man and his antecedents. Here is the story: Elizabeth Jane SMITH WILLIAMSON was married to William WILLIAMSON and had Susan Victoria, 1855, Thomas S, 1857, and Jane, 1858, in Madison Twp, Johnson, MO. There in 1860 census. Next door is a THOMPSON family consisting of Sarah, 44, born SC, Moses, 19, born TN, Polly, age 17, born MO, Mahala, age 13, born MO, and Sarah, age 5/12, born MO. In 1880, Holden Twp, Johnson, MO I find Elizabeth THOMPSON, widow, age 46, PA, England, England and children Susan, Mary J, and John B WILLIAMSON and children Dolly, Sadie, Frank, and Oscar THOMPSON. Obviously between 1860 and 1880 William WILLIAMSON had died and she had married a Thompson and he also had died. From death certificates the father is Joseph M THOMPSON, born Tennessee. I can not find this family in 1870, trying every search I can think of. It's fairly obvious they stayed in the same county, but different townships. The children were born in Holden, MO. I have looked for a Joseph THOMPSON in 1850, but as I do not know his age, it is fruitless. I am wondering if this family next door in 1860 can be related as Moses was born in Tennessee. He may even be Joseph MOSES THOMPSON for all I know. Doea anyone have this family in their research? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
