My g gf was Wm E Thompson born 1846-4/30/1897 in West Brandywine in Chester County, PA. The Wm Thompson is fact the connection beck to John R is circumstantial. The info I have on John was that he was born in PA, married a Mary (1810-5/1/1869) and had eight children. Ring any bells? Any time there are Thompson's in PA, and especially when they are married to a Mary, I have to jump in. Here is my Thompson line, see if any of these fit in. I will subscribe to the list and look forward to corresponding. James Custer had I believe three children. James, Tom and I believe a daughter. ( I can verify this at a later time) The two brothers James and Tom had a family feud and James changed the spelling of his name to James Coster. He was very well known in the Fife Lake area as Rainbow Jim and his son was called Brookie Bill because of their expertese on the Manistee River working as fishing, hunting and trapping guides. There have been a few books written about Jim and Bill published locally by the Grandson of Jim Orrie Wells. The father James Custer who was married to Cora were rumored to be part of the John Smalley Gang that robbed trains. I don't know if you heard of these stories or not. My father Lyle (Jake) is the son of Tom and Zoe Custer. Tom passed in 1955 and Zoe just passed away this past Thursday the 31st of Jul at 100 years of age. I was lucky enough to hea! r some of these stories from her. She was old, but had a great memory up to the end. I look forward to corresponding with you further. My line is thru thompson hatter and emma leona houston hatter I am trying to find Tranquilla's place of birth and her parents. I don't know if this will interest you, or not. But my great grandmother, Josephine Shupe Laughlin, married as her 2nd husband, Theodore Thorstensen, about 1915-20, in Snohomish County, Washington. I have two or three pictures of him with some of my family. She died about 1935, and he was still living at that time. I did find a record of another marriage for him after that, but not the one to my great grandmother. She was 95 at the time of her death, and he must have at least been in his late 80's.
