They arrived in Quebec on the 9th Oct.1927. The Canadian Immigration paperwork shows them going onward to the 'British Settlement Society' at Picton (I think) in Ontario. Does anyone know what this Society is, is/was it at Picton? I can't seem to be able to trace it. The family originally came from the Kesh area in County Fermanagh in Northern Ireland. I didn't know this Andrew was my g/uncle until I saw that he had given his closest relative as my other g/uncle that I knew and had met. It has taken me 5 years to get this far. I'm now trying to go beyond Quebec to Ontario, if they went there. Would anyone have any clues please, as to where I could look next?? I am trying to extend a Thompson line back from GA. Joseph Thompson married Apsylla Minton, dau. of Joseph & Lucretia (Mills) Minton, in Hancock Co., GA Nov 1823. They had 4 children by 1829. By about 1830 he appears to have died. She drew land as a widow in Morgan Co., GA in 1832 GA land Lottery. She also received a 'grant of $50/qtr from Morgan Co Court. in late 1830. This would indicate that Joseph died about 1829/30. The 3 oldest children are found in 1839 in Copiah, Co., MS with their widowed mother. The only Joseph Thompson listed in the Morgan Co. 1830 Census is a 60/70 yr old with a wife 50/60 and 1 teenage son. This Joseph died 1838 leaving his widow Anna. It is believed this was his second wife, the first being Polly Ferguson (married 1790 in Halifax Co., VA) This Joseph is listed in his father George's will in Wilkes Co., GA. Joseph's will does not list a son Joseph, nor any children by his first wife. Does anyone know anything about this Joseph Thompson and what may have happened to his first wife? Does anyone have a Joseph Thompson whom they have lost track of that might have been born abt 1790? Does anyone have any more information on these Thompsons? I have information on some descendants of 2nd oldest child - William J. Margaret Thompson
