While you are there, please think about joining the DNA project. To get more information from people on the list, you have to provide some info on your family ie parents, grandparents, etc. with dates and locations where they lived. In the subject line, put some family names and locations and a time period, many people on the list won't even look at a subject line that says "I want to talk to any Thompson". Also, don't use all caps, it is considered shouting on the net. Thanks, Don Thompson Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Every generation seems to be approx.50 years apart so that helps to divide the generations.Good Luck!L Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. But, be careful as I got led astray and followed the wrong Thompsons.Mine were born in what is now West Va.Also, family lore can be wrong.Try the 1800's census's and religious archives if you know what church they attended.Good Luck.L Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I believe "my"Thompsons were in that great early migration of Scots-Irish who fled the privation of Northern Ireland in the 18th century for the American Colonies. The first wave settled in Penn. Then a little later another immigration settled in the Cumberland Valley-where Ben and Mary were married and further south.I saw a history of those people on the History Channel and it was announced that the native Irish were the enemies of those people pushed or "planted"out of Scotland into No.Ireland.I can't say for others but my reading of history disagrees somewhat. II think times were tough there and religous persecution was wwaged against Prebsbyterians as well as Roman Catholics. Also localized crop failures and famines plus ggeneral poverty and rent-gouging affected all.L Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
