The information is online at one of the Oregon trail sites. Try typing 'wagon trains to Oregon 1852' and see if it brings up a list. Most of the pioneers went to Missouri to hook up to the Oregon trail and Cannady was one of them. I got the list from the Oregon trail site. Author: angelakaustin Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.thompson/9312.1.6.1.1.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I talked to my mom about it, and she says she doesn't know, it is possible. Her grandfather Fred Thompson had been in some other state for awhile, before coming back to Shannon County, Missouri, and getting married. We thought he'd been off working on the railroad (which he did do), but there could be something to the story of going to Alabama. In any case, Hiram did have 2 brothers, Tom and Fred. Since Sarah Potts was born in Alabama, they probably had family there. We've never heard anything about this story, but I'm curious about how it could fit in. Author: angelakaustin Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.thompson/9312.1.6.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Interesting. As far as I know, the only brothers Hiram had were Fred and Tom, and neither of them immigrated to Alabama. Their mother, Sarah Potts, always listed herself as having been born in Alabama, though, so maybe they were referring to relatives farther back (?) Fred and Tom did work on the railroad together, and maybe in other businesses as well. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
