I do know they were all farmers and at least started life on farms.I think there was a reason for Benj.and Mary not giving out info.An elopement of some kind or that sort of situation. Good luck in your quest.Try the Clan Thompson website.llinde3 Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. My Thompson cousins have clained we in So.Minn.came from England yet I think Ireland from Scotland.Apparently in the 1600' and 1700's King James I of England needed cash so he ssold off parts of Scotland to English nobles and resettled the Scots in No.Ireland.It was thought that the Scottish P Protestants would convert the Irish Catholics(didn't happen). Also some of the lowland Scots were raiding across tthe English border so the government in London sent them to Ireland. After time went by the deportees weren't really Scots anymore yet neither were they Irish. No wonder they immigrated here. There also, (I didn't know this)localized famines in Ireland after crop failures and exorbitant rents oon lands. Just thought to share background.lline3 Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: RussellThompson545 Surnames: Thompson Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.thompson/7774.13.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi Teresa My line migrated from Ireland via Scotland to Australia in 1844. I have been following this thread for ages now and whilst it does have a lot of traffic it hasn't achieved much at all. I also think Michael T would like to see and end to this thread. I strongly recommend anyone who has an interest in the Thompson history to join the site 'Clan Thompson' and pool our combined knowledge. Following the destruction of the Four Courts Archives in Dublin in 1922 Ireland effectively lost a thousand years of records. The only way we are going to get information earlier than 1800 is either by crystalising what we collectively have or by DNA research. The macro history places most Thompsons in or arround Ulster going back to the time of Elizabeth 1st. Some two hundred years of Englands interest in Ireland as a probable beachhead for invaders. >From various programmes Ireland was deliberately repopulated with Scotts and Enghlish. Thompson now being one of the most prominant surnames in Northern Ireland with the silent 'p' in our name being most probably acquired from English record keeping. I am happy to share what I have uncovered over the past few years and I have found the 'Clan Thompson' people to be most helpful and possessed of considerable knowledge of Thompson History. Kind Regards, Russell Thompson Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. [THOMPSON] THOMPSON Family Photographs
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" two old photographs belonging to the THOMPSON Family of Washington. The first photograph is one of Pete THOMPSON'S children including, Chester, Myrtle, Albin, Elmer, and Lloyd which was taken at the W. F. Combs Studio in Hoquiam, WA. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1890's or early 1900's with the children ranging in age from 1-5 years. Notes on the back indicate that Chester is the oldest and Lloyd is the youngest, though I think that refers only to the boys since it appears that Myrtle is the 1 year old in the photograph. The second photograph is identified as that of Susie THOMPSON at age 15 years. There is no studio or location indicated on this photograph, however, I'd guess that it was taken in the 1880's or 1890's. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding this family: Susanna Jorgina THOMPSON was b. 15 Aug 1875 in NE and married Edward Patrick SMITH on 4 Apr 1892 in Hoquiam, WA. Chester Arvid THOMPSON was b. 10 Oct 1894 in Hoquiam, WA to parents Peder Teodor THOMPSON and Paulina Janson JOHNSON. Chester died in Calgary, Alberta, Canada on 4 Oct 1969. Albin Clarence THOMPSON was b. 11 Sept 1896 in Hoquiam, WA to parents Peder Teodor THOMPSON and Paulina Janson JOHNSON. Albin died in Lomond, Alberta, Canada on 28 Feb 1916. Elmer Jule THOMPSON was b. 10 Nov 1897 in Hoquiam, WA to parents Peder Teodor THOMPSON and Paulina Janson JOHNSON. Elmer died 27 Sept 1983 in Milo or Vulcan, Alberta, Canada. Myrtle Florence THOMPSON was b. 28 Feb 1900 in Hoquiam, WA to parents Peder Teodor THOMPSON and Paulina Janson JOHNSON. Myrtle married Lewis MUNRO and died in Calgary, Alberta, Canada on 22 Jul 1966. 1900 census of Hoquiam, WA: Peter T. THOMPSON, b. WI Porlena THOMPSON, b. Sweden Chester E. THOMPSON Albin C. THOMPSON Elmo J. THOMPSON Anton T. THOMPSON Myrtle F. THOMPSON I'm hoping to locate someone from this THOMPSON Family so that these wonderful old photographs can be returned to the care of the family. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
