    1. [THOMPSON] Frank & Josephine Thompson & Ethel Corcoran
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: novella3 Surnames: Thompson, Cocoran, Howard, Clark Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.thompson/18762/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello all, I have run up against a brick wall. I have no idea where to look now for info. Ethel Francis Corcoran born Dec 1, 1907 in Lowell, MA. BIRTH vol. 567 pg 482. Daughter of John Corcoran (b. Providence, RI a machinist, and Annie Howard (b. Keysville, NY) (Keeseville, NY) This is the extent of info I have on John & Annie. Unlocateable as a couple or with any certainty as single in any census. No marriage or death or additional children for this couple in Rhode Island, MA or NH show on Family Search Beta. 1907 & 1908 Lowell, MA city directories show 2 John Corcoran's listed-neither are ours. 1906 Lowell city directory there was another John Corcoran, laborer, at 24 Davis St, who did not appear before or after that year. In 1910 census Ethel is residing in Merrimac County, NH with Frank & Josephine Thompson. It is believed she was residing in the Orphange/Home for the poor nearby. By 1920 Ethel Francis Corcoran name was changed to Jean Ethel Thompson. No Legal adoption took place in NH or MA. No legal name change was found. The Orphanage records are being checked. The Thompsons had no will or probate. Jean had no memories of her biological parents. She was pretty much disowned upon her marriage to Floyd Clark. Stories circulating amongst Ethel-AKA Jean's family seem to believe the Corcoran & Thompson knew each other. Nothing found to substantiate that theory Any help would be deeply appreciated, Thank you, Kathy Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: wallwiz Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.thompson/747.5724.5733.1.1.1.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: This particular Zachariah was a grandson of the Bute Co Benjamin. His father, also Benjamin, was a son of the Bute Co Benjamin, eventually settling into what was to become Wilkes Co, Ga.,which was again divided into Hancock, Greene, and other counties. Benjamin wound up being in Hancock, and Zachariah in Greene. I believe they helped establish the Island Creek Baptist Church as well as others in the area. If you're able to locate him on a list, it would be very beneficial. Zachariah was probably born ca 1763-68, dying in 1796 or 97 before his father, leaving behind an unnamed spouse and children.
