    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: Ghostchaserdigginguproots Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.thompson/18817/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Elizabeth Norton, daughter of Mercer Norton, was married to Leonard Thompson 3 July 1818 in Wayne County, Kentucky. This may well be the mother of Mercer, Joseph, Mary and James Thompson. This same Leonard Thompson is also most likely the father of Melinda, Elizabeth, Nancy, Alexander, John and possibly Francis Marion Thompson born 1814. Leonard Thompson may have been an uncle to some of the above children. It hasn't all been ironed out. There was a Leonard Thompson married to Elizabeth Kelsey, which poses a conflict. Two possibilities; 1) he was another Leonard Thompson 2) he had two sons named Francis Marion Thompson. But when you read the conflicting information it will startle you. If you would like to work with us please post a message. There is a series of bits and pieces of information that when pieced together look very promising Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Jane Martin Andrew C Thompson dies Saturday The date on this is very smeared ink but may be 1-20-84 or 54 Andrew C Thompson, around 80 years old, died at his home, 408 North High Street, sometime Saturday night following a long illness caused by facial cancer. Mr. Thompson's body was found by a Neosho physician who had come to his home at 9:45 o'clock Sunday morning to check on the old man, who lived alone. T The physician had been summoned by neighbors Saturday night to see Mr. Thompson, and was to call back the next day to work out details of entering him in a hospital. He found Mr. Thompson's body lying near the spot where he had left him the night before. Death apparently occurred early Saturday night, the physician said. Mr. Thompson had lived in Neosho for about 30 years, and was a retired farmer. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. [THOMPSON] New to list - Family information
    2. Theresa Simpson
    3. Hi I am new to this list. Looking for someone who may be linked to my Thompson side.  My mother's maiden name was Thompson (her married name is Thomson!) She is from Salford Lancs in England born in 1928 to Joseph Thompson also born in Salford and Mary Ann Brennan . From the 1911 Census I have discovered Joseph's father and grandmother were born in Belfast.  I cannot locate the family in England prior to 1881 Census. 1881 Census shows Joseph's grandmother Sarah as married no mention of her husband. She was living with her son William Jnr born abt 1854 who was married, no wife mentioned,  he had two daughters Bella age 1 and Margaret age 3 another son called just H or J age 24 I think that this is John.   1891 Census shows my great grandfather Joseph living with his wife Fanny, children Sarah 6, Fanny 5, Lilly 2 and Elizabeth (Lizzie) 9 months.  Later another daughter Isabella (Bella) was born and then my grandfather,  Joseph in 1894.  Fanny died in childbirth around 1896 as did her new born son.  1891 Census shows Sarah living at 14, Union Street, Broughton, Salford with her son John who is widowed he is 35 years old. His two daughters Sarah 15, Isabella 11.  His mother Sarah is quoted as widow of independent means, Another son called Andrew (presumably Sarah's) age 24 also living with them.  Lodger Samuel Coleman Single b Ireland age 14 Visitor Samuel Elliot Married b Ireland age 34 (1857) and I presume his wife Margaret Elliot b Ireland 32 (1859) The 1901 England Census 14 Union Street Broughton Lancs THOMPSON, SarahHeadWidow F701831 IrelandTHOMPSON, JohnSonSingle M401861Dresser (Flax Mill)  IrelandTHOMPSON, JosephSonMarried M331868Laborer (Copper Drawers)  Ireland THOMPSON, LizzieGrand Daughter F101891 Broughton LancashireTHOMPSON, BellaGrand Daughter F91892 Broughton LancashireTHOMPSON, JosephGrand Son M71894 Broughton LancashireMACINSTRAY, Tom VisitorSingle M451856Mechanic In Flax Mill  Not EnglandThe 1911 England census at 6 Union Street Lower Broughton Salford lists my great great grandmother Sarah Thompson - widow born abt 1838 in Belfast, Belfast, my great grandfather, Joseph Thompson widower, born in Belfast, Belfast in abt 1868 and my grandfather Joseph Thompson who was born in Salford 28 March 1894. According to the 1911 census information, Sarah had 5 children, only 2 were still alive in 1911.I am hoping that some long lost Thompson relative might be out there.  Thanks.  Theresa Simpson. Author: anthonyjessthompson Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.thompson/7774.459.1.1.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Thanks, you did that extremly fast. You are right on the Daniel F. Thompson info, his son jesse robert thompson is my greatgrandfather, who was born in Nebraska, and I still live here today. Daniels wife was Lydia Ann Wagner, dau. of Jesse Wagner. I have come to the same James Thompson and Caroline as Daniels father. The location/time frame work well, and Daniel listed his father as born in VA. and mother in Ohio, so this also fits. What Im trying to do locate a country of origin for this Thompson line. My quess is Northern British or Irish. I can not find any possible parents for James or Caroline, Daniels parents. I run into a dead end with James and Caroline. James parents are both listed as being born in va. and Caroline is listed as conneticut and England. Any info on them would be great. Daniels son Francis had a son named Daniel, and this may be the other Daniel F. you found, it makes perfect sense. Daniel(my gggrandfather), is buried in El Cajon Cal, so its another clue to the family. This gives me great confidence that Im on the right line( I know the info on Daniel and his wife are correct as info handed down from my mother, but am uncertain on the father, but am thinking that James makes since. Any more info on James and Caroline would be great, or Thompsons in the Va area in the 1820s. Thank you so much!!!! Author: sherrydeanne Surnames: Thompson Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.thompson/18810/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi all, I'm hoping someone can help me find the father of Samuel Thompson, born about 1802 in Butler. I've seen some references to a random John, but they link John to Capt. James which I'm almost sure is wrong. Does anyone have any ideas? :) His son, Archibald was born in 1832 in Butler and Archibald then took his family (wife Catherine, children: Samuel C (my line), William, Perry, Joseph, Charles, Mary Ann, Sarah, John, Thomas, etc, etc) to Mercer PA around perhaps 1890. Samuel's wife is Mary, Archibalds wife is Catherine, and the younger Samuels wife is Rebecca Redmond/Redman. Thanks so much!
