hi this is a very long shot, but here goes. looking for info re my grandfather's brother who was born in edinburgh scotland between 1891 and 1910. the parents were william jonathan thomas and agnes h lyon. I've been unable to find the birth of this unknown brother -SO FAR. It seems he joined the british army around time of WW1 and somewhere along the way he ended up as batman/butler to Field marshall Slim. He apparently travelled to Burma and all over in WW2. In the late 1950s if I remember right Slim became Govenor General Of australia and his butler went with him. No one in the family knows if he ever married or if he stayed in australia or returned to UK with Slim.
