Just wanted to tell others that I just found my grandfather in the 1880 Bibb County census which is on line now from Ancestry.com. Ordinarily I would never have found him in a search as his name in family Bible is Jehu, and was later apparently known as John; but not able to find him, I put in a search for his wife Martha (daughter of Catherine Alabama Kersh & Thomas Jefferson King) and found her listed as Marty and then the household including her husband and their children. He has been my illusive prisonor of the Civil War although my grandmother applied for a pension. Guess I need to look at phonetic spelling in muster rolls as he is listed in 1880 census as Gehue Thomas. His children in 1880 were listed as Dovie, Eliga (Elijah), Bella (Betty Lula), Mattie (Martha Eva) and David (Arthur). Do I have any cousins out there that this helps? Do I have a cousin researching?
