Hi there, I'm at a standstill with my THOMAS Family. Here is the information I have: James R. THOMAS b. 1845 Ontario. He lived mainly in Lobo Ontario, Middlesex County. According to 1891 Census, James mother was listed as from the United States, his father from England. There is a Thomas family in the 1851 Lobo Census but the Initials aren't readable. One is stated as from the United States. I did find the old thread in the following THOMAS genforum: Rees THOMAS born Apr 5, 1821, son of John THOMAS and Martha POWELL. Rees married Aug 27, 1852 at Pembrey, Wales to Ann SOLOMON, born Oct 15, 1827, Pembrey, daughter of George SOLOMON and Mary ERASMUS Children, born Llanelli, Carmarthenshire,Wales: Margaret,Oct 11, 1853 and John,Dec 4, 1855. Family emigtated on July 2, 1857 to Lobo Twp. Middlesex Co. near London, Ontario, Canada, where Martha, Shadrach, Lydia and Hannah were born. In 1870, family moved to Kenockee Twp. St. Clair Co., MICHIGAN, USA. I would love to find this author, but there's never been a reply. I don't think James R. Thomas knew much about his parents, they might have died while he was young. On his death registration, filled out by his son, there was no information about James parents, giving the impression that perhaps his son didn't know that information. If the first son is normally named after the father's father, it could be Samuel THOMAS (James Thomas' first born son's name b. 1868 Lobo Ontario) James R. Thomas married Catherine Paul in Lobo Ontario. I have much of this information, just nothing on James R. Thomas's parents!! This is my brick wall.
